I made it down to Coolidge Corner to take a few pictures of the marathon. I stuck around just long enough to see the elite runners before it started pouring rain. When I got there the wheelchair and handcycle racers were already passing Coolidge Corner. They started ahead of the elite women who were followed by the elite men.
After the second major snow storm in eight days, Boston was pretty much brought to a grinding halt. The MBTA trains broke down and buses were stuck on unplowed streets. According to transit officials, regular service might not be restored until next week. Despite all this, the Patriots parade had to happen Wednesday because the players would not be available if it were delayed any longer
Originally, I planned to go all the way downtown to take photos in the Boston Common and around Copley but the state closed the MBTA early last night and suspended all service for today making it impossible to get anywhere outside of walking distance.
On Saturday, approximately fifteen-hundred people protested police brutality and systemic racism in the streets of Boston. Protesters meet at the State House around noon.
Several thousand people took to the streets of Boston to protest the non-indictment of the police officer who choked Eric Garner to death in July. This protest was one of dozens taking place at the same time around the nation on December 4, the day after the Grand Jury results were announce in New York City.
